Of all the forms of courage the ability to laugh

Of all the forms of courage the ability to laugh is the most beneficial. Laughter is, without anyone noticing, very beneficial and sometimes can be contagious. By contagious I mean, whenever there is someone who is continuously laughing, laughing so much they cry, and you kind of end up laughing because they laughing.
Laughter is the most beneficial, as a form of courage, because it ultimately is good medicine. With a bit of research done, here are the benefits of laughing:
·         happy to have money
·         Helps you lose weight
·         Decreases stress
·         Makes you look young
·         And boosts relationships
With that said I’d like to just remind you that of all the forms of courage the ability to laugh is the most beneficials.

The statute of limitations has expired on most of our childhood trauma

The statute of limitations has expired on most of our childhood trauma
Some of us are stuck on looking back at our past (our childhood). Some even try getting remorse from friends by telling everyone about the trauma they survived. Others don’t and have practically become better people from the trauma they experienced. No matter your past, change is the essence of life.
I like many others, may not have had a prefect childhood (no traumas) but one thing I can say for certain is that by learning to live in the present, we can move forward in our lives. By living in the past, we tend to linger about how tough life is and to my opinion this clouds our vision to look forward in life and make the most of it.

Only bad things happen quickly

Deaths, car accidents, falling down stairs, being hijacked, being mauled by a bear, are what I would consider as bad things. The saying goes that only bad things happen quickly and perhaps that's true. Maybe bad things have such a brief lifespan when they occur to the reduce the amount of pain you feel when you're hit by a truck or slapped through the face.
I believe that human beings are resilient and that we can bounce back from anything. Sometimes the pain is brief, but the healing process is lengthy, but it makes us appreciate the good things in life so much more. The belief that something better lies ahead, keeps us moving and the patient knowledge that good things comes to those who wait, is what keeps us motivated. So we take the good with the bad, because 'you can't have a rainbow without a little rain.

Be bold and might forces will come to your aid.

I recently bought a pair of rubber boots, so that I'd have no excuse for not walking my dog in the rain. But when I was walking the other day, I noticed something. Even though I was wearing these great-fun, turtle-covered, green knee-high rain-boots, I was still avoiding the puddles and the mud. I must have associated, somehow, somewhere, puddles and mud with undesirable conditions. I certainly didn't see them that way as a child. In fact, I welcomed them.
Children are wonderfully resilient, and they instinctively know their rain boots are too. They know that a garden hose will wash away any mud that has clung to their boots, so they happily use them as they were intended. They walk right through. They know that tomorrow, they'll be starting with fresh boots again.
As adults though, sometimes we forget that we can walk through the rain, and still come out dry. We just have to choose to stay dry. We choose it by allowing the experiences to occur without avoiding them, and surrender to the fact that it's raining.

The last lecture

It was December 18, 2002 at Peninsula Technician, journalism class professor Steven Adams stepped in front of an student of 300 people at the sport hall to deliver a last speech about “Racism in Tertiary Institutions” With slides of his CT scans beaming out to the audience, Adams told his audience about the cancer that is devouring his pancreas and that will claim his life in a matter of months. .  He told students to be racism if they want because it was created by their parents, he sees no reason to why they can do it, if they forefather saw it as the right thing to do.
On the stage that day, Adams was youthful, energetic, handsome, often cheerfully, darkly funny. He seemed invincible. But this was a brief moment, as he himself acknowledged.  He was out context and he was not prepared he humble apologise to the audience who were there to listen to him as he was known as one of the best lecture in the institution that time.
Adams’s lecture has become a phenomenon, as has the book he wrote based on the same principles, celebrating the dreams we all strive to make realities.

Watch the space

My understanding of watch the space is when there is a rumour about someone and he or she denies it. Typical example is minster of sport Fikile Mbulula allegations about having an affair with 27 year lady by the name Joyce Molamu. He categorically denies it. He once said time will tell about the whole saga. He felt that it’s a political orchestration or related malice from him enemies.
“only time will tell” and such political ramifications will be dealt with appropriately at that time. He distances himself from any insinuation that he alleged that the NIA [National Intelligence Agency] operatives are meddling in ANC squabbles.
He once said it is without a doubt that the political environment within which we operate at this stage is afflicted by mischievous characters for their own political and personal ends, and diverting the attention of the organisation to execute its strategic mandate. Watch the space. One day the truth will come out between Mr Mbalula and Ms Molamu who is lying to the nation.

My favourite Cat in the Hat book is fill in the litle because......

I’m going to have to be frank and honest here. I did not understand this topic complete until I goggled it. My favourite Cat in the Hat book, what I do know is that Cat in the Hat is a children’s book written by Dr Seuss.  The Cat in the Hat is known to be famous due to its mysterious, long looking cat who wears a red and white top hat and a red bow.

When asking my parents and my primary school teacher, why I was never read Cat in the Hat when I was little, They told me that they had actually started reading it to my siblings but didn’t enjoy it; therefore the book never came to me as I was the ‘a young boy’.  My mom then changed the book for something more readable like world smith English novel. I liked these books because each one dealt with a particular theme and I liked the expressions on their faces.

Why i have conversation?

The best conversations come from gaining new understanding about the topic discussed or the person. Lead conversation into personal stories and vibrant debate such as politics, community issues and news around the country. These give limitless conversation and are revealing about the character of a person.
It's okay to talk about yourself as long as the person listening is interested and getting new information about you or the topic. People don't like to rehash things they already know or have thought about so try to give a new perspective or way of thinking.
While you want to talk about a topic, make sure you pause in between sentences, which allows for the other person to ask a question to clarify if they understand you and/or for them to interject with a thought of their own. Remember, you want to have a conversation, not be a story-teller.
A compliment usually does the trick. For example, a "I like your shoes" could lead to a conversation over stores, shoes or anything.
Always make eye contact and be sure the person knows you are listening. Some people like to half-listen and usually make horrible conversationalist. If the person is doing this or is doing it often or all the time then they're not the person you want to have a conversation.

My big fat BIG dream

My big fat BIG dream

I have always been cautious about my fitness and what I eat. I always try to eat right and gym often – especially as I play competitive football every weekend and need to be in top my shape at all times. Being a health and fit it helps you to perform well in the match, I strive to be tighter, stronger, fitter and creative as the middle fielder, but I have not yet dedicated time and effort to have that fabulous body as I.

My big fat BIG dream is to never be BIG or FAT as I truly believe that there is no reason for looking like that. Food is good I know, promise you, but food is there to sustain our bodies and provide us with energy to live. Just as eating is essential, exercise and good health is essential as well!

My biggest influence and soccer player is Lionel Messi he players football like magnate. This young boy will be a world star for the next 5 decades.  The fitness, healthy eating and good lifestyles are very important.  As result I made up mined to do masters in sport management to compliment with Public relations degree. Eventually want to own my sport company.

KHAYELITSHA DISTRICT HOSPITAL TO OPEN SOON

Last Sunday afternoon around 17:30pm I was driving through Khayelitsha with my son and I saw the development of Khayelistha Hospital, which looked to in its final stages of construction and finishing. I have been reading about the Hospital on the media, it was a first to have a glimpse of it.  I was very delight for people of Khayelistha in the next few month, they will not have to travel very far to get health care. According to the Provincial Government of the Western Cape, It will provide access to quality healthcare straight to the community of Khayelitsha servicing the approximately 500 000 people in the area. The 230-bed medical facility will provide support to the surrounding primary healthcare facilities to ensure that patients receive care at the lowest level of entry into the healthcare system. Patients who require more advanced levels of care will be referred to Tygerberg Hospital.

Services that will be available include:
·         Inpatient services including Surgery, Medicine, Paediatrics and Obstetrics
·         a referral outpatient service which includes a medical day ward (predominantly for ARV referrals)
·         a large accident-and-emergency unit (it is 30% larger than that of a standard district hospital trauma unit, to cater for the high incidence of trauma and homicide in the area)
·         a large maternity ward (it is 30% larger than that of a standard district-hospital maternity ward, to cater for the high population growth and birth rate in the area). The Obstetrics unit also includes a nursery and kangaroo mother care facility.
·         an EMS/ambulance station with heliport that will serve as the divisional headquarters of the Khayelitsha subdistrict and the Helderberg basin. The hospital will be served by a compliment of more than 500 staff members – this includes medical and non-medical staff as well as staff from soft services tenders (i.e. Catering, Landscaping and Cleaning). Currently there are 240 staff members on the hospital’s establishment and the recruitment and the filling of posts is on-going. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate people of khayelitsha and leader government of DA. As the card caring member of the ANC want to say them bravo and keep it up a good work in the Western Province.

Conventional is a good fallback position isn’t it?

It has been said that, I often use, listen to other people’s conversation in order to go with a flow. But I find not true to make those silly allegations and sometime interesting and important – especially to your peers, like classmate and colleagues.
As we approaching the end of the year, we find ourselves almost there for the 2011 and nearer to 2012 to look for new hope and new resolution for our future especially for our studying Public Relations Management. Most of us eager and getting ready to relax for next year and come back to complete our final year of the B-Tech. The lure will be however to finish the course and look better of work, which will pay you well.
It a feeling I have. Conventional is a good fallback position but it is neither worthy waiting for being professional. We will need more than likely to be expected to fall back into the conventional ship. Let’s face the reality!
Image our peers, what would be think about us as their colleagues and friends would they see our attitude rather being different before it. However being, creative and innovative – focused on this same issues?

You cannot chase two rabbits in the same time.

If you chase two rabbits, both will escape and you will not get them unless you come up with great strategy to catch them. Well times have change and the 21st century woman can definitely chase more than one rabbit at a time. The simplest example is that of being a single, working mother and excels at work and earn a living good living for yourself and kids without depending on the man. You feed them, educate and develop your child, after them after work.
While working to earn extra money to pay off, while working out to get back in tip-top beach-worthy two-piece bodies, and while giving attention to friends, family and of course our baby.
These are all little rabbits running all over the place, and if you don’t use skill them, they will all get away. Now I am not talking about running, diving or aiming skills. I’m talking about staying focused, multi-tasking play the role of man and other side the role of wife in the house simultaneously.

Nothing is more dangerous than an idea, when you only have one idea.

On Saturday night I was watching the move on ETV channel until middle night, I watched alone as everyone was fast asleep, there were dangerous and ugly animals, such crocodile, snakes, elephant, tiger and tortoise.

Apart from it being one of the most afraid person on the night things, I saw things, I’ve last seen few for years ago, it blew me away at how many of them only had one harmless character or appearance and I was in the a position where they would either make it or break it. I decided to go to sleep as I was getting more afraid with seeing those animals, I could not sleep for the entire night.

I was awake the whole night thinking about, what I saw in the Television. However I agree with topic given upon nothing is dangerous than an idea, I mean I simple saw the image on TV, I did not see them face to face and I was still afraid and I could not sleep up until early hours of the morning. When I had a sleepless night I dare not allow the thought to go over my head.

Food aid stolen in Somalia

Its disappointing and hurting to hear that people are stealing food meant masses of people who are dying of hunger in Somalia. It has been reported widly that people stolen food aid for millions of whom are starving for their lifes.  According media reports Somila government are intending to fire those government officials who are cruel.

I sincerely hope they will be fine on the spot without given any notice prior. You ask yourself where was there security force from government as we all know the situation in Magadishu. There were reports that people were fight for food distribution and there were killings took place prior this stearling of food.

I mean each day South Africans sends tons of food aid in Mogadishu supporting thier africns brothers. I'm reality sad to hear this horrible accident. My own department took tons food aid to Gift of  the Givers yesterday to their distribution warehouse in Athlone. I'm calling upon the Somalian government to deploy more securities 24/7 if they want continues support from other countries as well. They is no use of sending food aid and yet no one takes care of it.

Have you figured out the second head fake?

Have you figured out the second head fake?

I once listen read a book that talked about the figured out the second head fake. According this book it was annual lecture of one of the icon in the world, but the author did not mention his/her name.
It comes from the last lecturer given by who the icon had died of cancer a disease which is taking thousands of lives each year.

His lecture or message is about living your life with good values and morals have sense of integrity and sort of just live by the guidelines for your holy book.
This is probably a silly example of a head fake but simple things such as you only visit people after supper and lunch unless invite, as that is their family time and also never just take things ask if you can have, gaining that sense of respect- just knowing right from wrong.

Also live your life correctly to get to achieve your dreams, this way your dreams will be worth so much more when achieved.
It is amazing how different your outlook on life is when knowing it is come to an end, you have those profound thoughts and those little moments which you tend to overlook sometimes.

black people do not tip

I have had about the notion of black people do not like to tip waitress, car guards, petrol attendence etc. I over heard again on Metrofm one of the popular Radio station in South Africa making it as a joke. We once engaged in this topic in my maiden year couple of years ago with other group of students. The debate became very nasty or hot there were passing marks along racial line.

Coming back to the issue at hand, before i loose the content of my topic. People called in to express their views about topic and most people who called in were black people, parhaps two or three white and colour. However most black people disagreed with idea describing as the rubbish to discredit black people.

The non- black group agreed with topic and one who refused to identified herself said where she used work black people literally do not tip, even if you have given them a great service they will just say thank and left without tipping you. One gentleman who happened to take his family once a week, was angered with the accusation towards black people.

He said the reason he does not tip simple because the waitress turn to demand the tip and he knows very well that he is not obliged as they get their own salary end o the month. I also disagreed with the whole thing abodaki does not tip, black people do tip, it depends on the person on the day, if is in mood. Off course its bad not to tip the person as it encourage to tip her or him. But its your own call at end of the day.

Black wednesday

When i had about the death of 15 school kids travelling with bus yesteday monring in Knysna,  i was very devestated immediately i thought about the parents who had hope to see thier kids later.
It was very sad day to the families of direct immediate families, friends, clasmates, teachers and entire South Africa.
I could not sleep last night, as i keep on thinking about the accident kiling innocent engels. However thanks GOD you did not take them all. It will take time and difficult to erase the bad memory in their minds and heart as long as they don't take them for counselling.

If the reports, i saw in the Cape Argus is anything to go by that the probe will begin, if  the bus had overload were road compliant and have been tested regulary.  Apparently president Zuma, his cabinet ministers, Premier Helen Zilli, members of provincial legislature, Mayor De Lille and ordinary South Africans have been sending their message of support and condolences to the families.

On twitter, people offered thier condolences to the victims families and others expressd their anger at news.  An editor of Cape Argus opinion he suggest that it was Black August, as smilar incident happened six years ago, when schools kids died when the bus crashed on Kloof Nek Road. I agreed with editor.

How hard is it to follow intructions?

Honestly, following instruction is actually very difficult indeed, irrespective of how old or how young you are.  A friend reported last year that one of the comments on her daughter’s primary school report read:  “M has finally learnt to follow instructions.”

This is actually a remarkable achievement, and not one that I have mastered yet.  I find that there is a strong link between not following instructions and critical thinking.  It is clear to me that critical thinking and blind obedience are mutually exclusive.

I have never in my life been in a situation where blind obedience was beneficial. Aah yes, the malady of blind obedience. Let us count the ways it hurts us.
I find it particularly difficult to follow instructions that are arbitrary, or somer.  That is the critical part of my brain).

I want to know why I must do something, I want to understand the terms and conditions, the limitations of the instruction, but primarily I need to know why
I find it difficult to follow instructions that are not universally applied.  I find it difficult to follow instructions that invade my boundaries, intrude upon my sense of self and privacy. Infringements into my space always generate outrage (and in some instance a tantrum or two).  My response is, and will always be.

I'm feeling the heat

The pressure on colleagues, friends and classmates. Since we have returned to tech for this term the heat has amounting from all three subjects. On other side my department have employed a new female boss, so it our duty to hand over all the work to her.

I'm exhausted already,I'm strugging to wake up in the morning to work because, i'm tired. Its not easy to study and work in the same time as it drains you big time. But its a choice we have made for our future and for our families. I have not been twitting and blogging for the above reasons. Even though, i'm feeling the heat, but i'm not yet to give up and its too late now.

I have put lot of effort in this course to successed. This international communication assignment and summaries took most of my time trying by all means to make them right. Bear in mind that, there is other assignment on the line, such P.R and Media studies they are due same day, so it does give you much time to prepared for other up coming assignements.

Proff Narvana once said, we are left with three month to go before, we say good bye tech see you in 2012. It sounded as if is around the corner and there is no much in between. I think she was right and she worned us about lot of hard work ahead of us.I'm one of the students who took her for granted when she pronounced it on the class.

I'm very traumatise

After i saw the video of the those two governmnet employees, i was so traumatise and shocked. I do not know where to start to express my disappointed to this horible individuals, i'm extremely unpappy with this reckless behaviour. If it happened that i used vulgar language please forgive me.

Yes some married people do committe such mistakes, but not all do engaged in adultery behaviour out of thier marrige in a decent way, its a reality, we cannot run away the truth. I still can't figure out, what was going on to their mind, when they indulge in sex public knowing that they are still on duty and married.

However clearly this people decided to go ahead despite their circumstances in that particular time and place. The worse senario of the whole saga, it was a full view colleagues. Perhaps if they were so desparetly to have sex, why not get a cheap Bed and Breakfast or friends house one for all.

The big question for families and kids, Do they forgive my their partners or do they let it go? It is going to be very difficult decision to take especially for kids. I'm very sorry for those kids and families involved. It will be extremely a difficult decision to over come and trust one another for the next few decades, i promised you. sad story especilly for close families, kids, friends and colleagues. Sad story

Municipal strike is devastating

Yes I agreed people have a right to strike, when they felt that their demands have been meet by thier employees. But why damages other peopple's property such cars, shops, business and government properties and cars.

They are looting the public and destroying everything in the street uneccessary. These people are nothing, but scavangers openly stealing from innocent vendors.

The strikers were disgusting, thieving thugs. They can obviously afford to buy food if they were hungry to that extent. This disgruntled SAMWU members raised thier voices about big gaps between them and high earners, but what was seen was the total uncceptable.

I feel the bosses of the union must be held accountable for the action of thier members. I notice yesterday that the Cape Argus has reported that the City of Cape Town is intending to use CCTV to arrest those hooligans. I can't wait to see the result of it.

In the future everybody will be word famous for 15 minutes.

In the future everybody will be world famous for 15 minutes.
There are two things that cross to my mind, when mention about being famous for fifteen minutes, media builds you or destroy. What happens to the people who unwittingly find themselves at the center of a media attraction?
I never wanted to be celebrate in my life and I wish not to have a close family or a friend who happened to be a media person. There is number of things you need to consider, such as looking good, who you date, your behavior, what you said, what are you driving, what you wear, your house, education background and who do you mix with etc. It comes with lots of pressure from the media.

The most difficult thing for me in all of this. “In future everybody will be world famous fifteen minutes” The envision of privacy from the media people. They write white lies, selling stories about so call public figure and celebrates. It broke my heart, when media report with something not need concern public, I have a huge problem. Remember Diana Princes of Wales who died on car accident in1997 media were too blamed for her death.  I was feeling emotional and sad I couldn't trust media people anymore.

Eric Myeni was out of order

I have been think and analysing why Mr Eric Myeni decided to attacked and swear to the editor of City press Ms Ferial Haffajee after publishing Ratanag trust about Julius Malema the president ANCYL. I believed he could have made his point clear beside what he wrote. In case you have not yet seen the article.

SEE THE ARTICLE BELOW.

If he feels very strongly that City press and Haffage are out to destroy black business emarging young people and are anti-ANC why used aparthied words to address her and associate her with a black snake in grass. I'm very disappointed with Eric Myeni, there was absolutely no need of him to be so horrible with Haffaje. I have thought the old days of regime have come and gone to thus far.

Mr Myeni should have known better as the developing nations and with its history of aparthied, we did not need to be remainded of burning tyre around neck. We had families who lost they loved ones during this riots and its has not completely healed.  As much as he has been fired by Sowetan Newspaper for what he wrote about the editor of City press.

I feel the newspaper its should have seen the article was a defamation of charactor, where was the news editor and the editor. They might sent out an statement apologise to her and City press, but the damage has been done already. There is a feeling among media circles that Mr Myeni was merely defending Mr Malema image and intergrity nothing else, but he used a wrong platform to do. I support Ferial Haffaje to consider a legal opinion about the matter.

Rock journalist

Rock journalism involves people who can't write, interviewing people who can't talk, for people who can't read". Image journalist can’t write and interview people. It should be declared a disgrace journalist.
If it’s true what Frank Zappa said about Rock journalist, I understand why people always attacked journalist as being lies and cooked stories. Noticeable people are politicians who always blamed media or journalist for not reporting accurate.

I’ve recently been pondering the profession of rock criticism.  Do not underestimate, gentle rocker, the power of the rock press and the incredible influence we rock critics wield, whither rock scholars, knowing critics or buck-a-word scribes.
So how did I manage this, some would say, difficult task?  Well, let’s just say, having been there I know my rock.

When I tried to think about the rock journalism as people who can’t write interviewing people who can’t talk for people who can’t read, it was an embarrassment. Any journalist should be able to write about anything as they have trained for so many years and have necessary experience.

I have been told by many a readers that most of the highly-regarded rock journalists are whites journalist because they understand rock as music before became rock journalist debt. I would like to point out that I am not the self-appointed Rock Critics it is merely my peers have thus anointed me.

BRAVO GIFT OF THE GIVERS

I want to take off my hat for Gift of the Givers, Cape Argus, BP, Unilever for thier Operation Warm Hearts for volunteer giving hand out blankets, food, nappies, clothings, toys and cleaning materials to residents around the province for Old Age homes, Aids orphans and destute communities. We have seen how people were badly affected by the winter floods and our government cannot do it lonely. It is for this reason, i'm calling upon business people and politicians being patriotic capetonians.

The Operation Warm Hearts is a joint initiative for in association with other partners which distributing food for the poor of the poorest. Gift of the Givers is a Non profit organisation who has been on the for front for the past few yeatrs assisting locally, national and international disaster recently they visited Japan to help out. This initiative it reminds me of Mandela Day, to be done throught the year. Unlike the celebrates and politician who only does for Mandela and the publicity.

I want to call upon all South Africans to follow the suite not only devote thier time on the 18th July when is Madiba's birthday. It should be a daily campaign for the poor of the poorest of this country.I mean we have wealth people in this country who can volunteer donate food, clothing and shoes etc. Madiba has laid the foundation for us to follow his footsteps to help one another and show "UBUNTU" whcih i think is the most lacking in our diversity country. I therefore encourage the Mandela Day to be carried out every day of our life and assist the aboved mentioned companies who have showned us the way to go. Metrail intelligence bullies

I'm very happy that Metrail have finally admitted that they are facing a huge challenges to get its service right to high standard according the Cape Argus. I have been using trains for the past ten years or more communiting from Muizeberg to Town and Bellivile.

You will be on the station on time, you hear that trains has been cancelled or delay for 10 or 15 minutes and you will received the communication after numerous costomers have gone to complained or asked, where is the train? or why there is no train? why the train is late or has not yet arrived? Only than you hear Metrail start communicating with its costomers.

Even staff members on the platform would be in the dark, why the train has not arrived or late. The regional manager Mr Lindelo Matya of Metrail has also blamed vandalism, cable cheft have contributed to the problem on operation service. I wish to share with his sentiments on tha part, we are also contributing to Metrail poor service as commuters or costomers.

We know or seen the perpetrotors and we do not report them on Metrail or to police. But despite this problems have been mentioned above does not give Metrail a mondate to bullie us, by not provinding a quality service. We are quiet aware that they cheaper than Golden Arror and taxi and they also does not have competitors. If they have to deploy security in each of the train than be it or get more trains from Eastern Cape.

Makhaza loites erected after a year.

When Mayor Patricia De Lille announced in her first bugdet speech last month that she is going to send City of Cape Town staff to do the inspection site before the enclosed of the toilets, i had mixed feelings of happeness and sadness. I mean we all have seen, what happened when the former mayor Dan Plato went to Makhazi with his city staff.

The residents of Makahaza completely disagree with zing toilets and they destroyed them literally. When i saw the toilets were erected peacefully, i clapped my hands with disbelive and appreciate as thier welcome concrete toilets being assebled.I could spot the excitment written in the face of the residents as thier inspected the toilets. The Local government election have come and gone, councillors, mayors, PR, municipality and governement need to delivery the services to the poorest of this country nothing else. However people have spoken during election they voted to the party felt would carry the mandate of the their needs.

We seen people using open fields to revealed themsevels without any cover over them. It was a sad story for residents of Khayelitsha and people of the Western Cape at larger, as it was making news international  and around the world. One of the prominet person who visited the Makhaza issue was Bishop Thabo Makgoba and other churchers. I know there also few churchers who visited and prayer for Makhaza residents unfortunaly were never followed by any media institutions.

I sencerely hope the international media will make a front page story to inform their readers about the progress has been made thus far regarding the issue of Makhaza saga. However, government, communities leaders, civic organisations and political parties would never make such embarassment again and they should strive to work towards one goal to serve poor of the poorest. I want appeal to residents of Makhaza to look after the newly erected toilets with strong eyes and used them to the best of thier ability.

I want to take this opportunity to thank newly elected madam mayor De Lille, City of Cape Town staff, Makhaza residents, communities leaders, business people , churches, Cape High court and political parties for work well done.

The elephant in the room

If you think about the first three scenarios, meeting a client, team member or family, everyone has their own agenda. Each party comes with a set of assumptions, ideals and objectives that could be very different to the person sitting next to them. There are definitely a few elephants in the room.

Elephants in the room are all the things ‘not being talked about’. The situations where everyone nods in silent compliance, meanwhile a missile-fire of objections and ulterior arguments are whizzing round inside their heads, threatening to burst out through their ears in a shower of fury or fireworks. It’s the situation where everyone agrees with what the boss has just said; but will go straight home and rant about it to their partner.

In these situations, truly great leaders will stand up and be counted. They will offer their honest views, even if they’re unpopular with the masses. They will stand up to what they believe in and be willing to be pushed and probed on that. Often, once they’ve aired an alternative view, other people will have the confidence to admit their own questions or reservations.

So why doesn’t this happen with friends? Well, potentially it does, depending on your group. But for me and my friends, I think we’ve all grown up being entirely honest with each other. Often far too honest! If you’re feeling angry, you’ll tell people about it and you’ll explain exactly why. Unhappy about something someone did? You confront them and sort it out. Excited about possible changes in your life? You go straight to them to spill the beans, because they always give the right response.

Don't judge the book by its cover

A friendy of mine who happens to be a wife Reverent invited me to the of thier church (ibandla) in Gugulethu NY 121 last sunday. I decided to invite my girlfriend to accompanied me to the service as i did not know anyone accept the umfundisi's wife.

The word of GOD (ilizwi)  (We nothing without the grace of God..We should be gratefull because he died for our sins he left us with his holy spirit) I mean are working, we have shelters to sleep, we are driving flash cars, wearing name brands, we don't go to bad with hungry stomach unlike other people.

Its a small church with unfinished windows, floor and not covered up on the wall and roof. I would not blame you, if it was used by gangsters. When entered the church, i said to myself wow! I going to catch a flue. If there will be any substance and content of the service. However to my surprise the preaching of Rev, singing the spirit and the word of GOD was out of this world.

I was impress with young people who packed the church to its capacity and fully participating in singing, prayer service and collection (umnikelo). The reason i write about this experince, i was simple touch with the quality of the service and the spirit among the members of the church members.

It was a learning experience for me, I mean we turn to undermine the so called small churches with no fancy building and respect the well funded or build churches. And yet their dissappoint when it comes to the core of the church in the life of people and community at large.

Every day is a good day.

Every day is good day
I believe that every day is a good day. Sometimes not-so-good things do happen but the fact remains that every day can be a good day. How so?
Take for instance my day today. I woke up bright and early at the crack of dawn to get ready to drive for 30km with my son as he is going to crèche and meet a school associates. As I was dragging myself out of bed after letting the alarm ring for a good 15 minutes, I received a slap in the face from my two years old son. He was saying to me (Vuka tata it means woke up dad) and moved my blankets till, I jump out of the bed. The irony, I cannot tell you how he knew that day, he was going to the crèche.
So what’s so good about that? I got up and spent an hour getting him to dress for the big day. He had a healthy breakfast and chatted with Mum – all of which he normally don’t do because I always left him fast asleep. Then he met with his peers for the first time to play with and learns to communicate with in English as he speaks Xhosa at home. It turned out that he was eager to inter act with them and it was long overdue, he had speak and play with them. To cut a long story sort, my son amaze me with everything that day, his mother, grandmother, teachers from crèche and his peers.
So the morale of a long story is ‘every day can be a good day’. I was inconvenienced that every day is a good day, unless I allowed myself to be not a good day. I had fun writing this 18th blog for media studies.
Every day can be a good day when we choose our attitude and response to the people and events that feature in the day!
