Makhaza loites erected after a year.

When Mayor Patricia De Lille announced in her first bugdet speech last month that she is going to send City of Cape Town staff to do the inspection site before the enclosed of the toilets, i had mixed feelings of happeness and sadness. I mean we all have seen, what happened when the former mayor Dan Plato went to Makhazi with his city staff.

The residents of Makahaza completely disagree with zing toilets and they destroyed them literally. When i saw the toilets were erected peacefully, i clapped my hands with disbelive and appreciate as thier welcome concrete toilets being assebled.I could spot the excitment written in the face of the residents as thier inspected the toilets. The Local government election have come and gone, councillors, mayors, PR, municipality and governement need to delivery the services to the poorest of this country nothing else. However people have spoken during election they voted to the party felt would carry the mandate of the their needs.

We seen people using open fields to revealed themsevels without any cover over them. It was a sad story for residents of Khayelitsha and people of the Western Cape at larger, as it was making news international  and around the world. One of the prominet person who visited the Makhaza issue was Bishop Thabo Makgoba and other churchers. I know there also few churchers who visited and prayer for Makhaza residents unfortunaly were never followed by any media institutions.

I sencerely hope the international media will make a front page story to inform their readers about the progress has been made thus far regarding the issue of Makhaza saga. However, government, communities leaders, civic organisations and political parties would never make such embarassment again and they should strive to work towards one goal to serve poor of the poorest. I want appeal to residents of Makhaza to look after the newly erected toilets with strong eyes and used them to the best of thier ability.

I want to take this opportunity to thank newly elected madam mayor De Lille, City of Cape Town staff, Makhaza residents, communities leaders, business people , churches, Cape High court and political parties for work well done.
