I'm assuming commemorating freedom day is not ANC event, DA, COPE IFP or UDM etc. In my understanding it should for everyone South African who live in it, weather you were invloved or non participated in struggle. The party politics should stay out of the government calender holidays.
The only reason i'm raising this topic, i'm saddened and concerned the way, we members of the ANC we conduct ourself during the big events. On 21 March Human Right Day was celebrated in Athlone stadium DA mayoral candidate Patricia De Lille was heckled by us members of the ANC depriving her time to speak about the national event. Remember the event was broadcast live on televison and radio, think about school children who were clued on the T.V with parents as it was public holiday.
Again yesterday in Union Building in Pretoria or Tswane where president Jacob Zuma was going to address the nation as the key note address. The DA member and IFP were the victims of the same heckled and howled by the ANC members while delivering their messages of support to the nation and families were directly affected by the liberation struggle.
When the crowd start howling the speakers attended the event grew louder and many made the hand signal used at soccer matches to indicate they disertifation of the player and he should be substituted. I do not condone such behaviour and i will never support it.
However that kind of behaviour is unbecaming and it needs to be condemn with content strongest possible it deserved. I'm quiet aware not all the members of the ANC are hoolings, there are certain minority of people who are determined to put the organisation in disrupt for uncessarly.
